About

My first pet portrait was of a dog called Tyson.

About ten years ago I was working at Starbucks with an itch to paint and nothing to paint. I asked my coworkers what they would want. One of them had just lost the family dog, and asked for him.

I’ve been painting people’s animals ever since, around thirty commissions since 2021, in acrylic and always in realism. I match the fur, color and texture to your photo by hand. Now based in Palatka, Florida.

How a commission works

You see it at every stage, from sketch to final whisker.

  1. 01

    Choose a size

Tell me where it's going to hang and I'll help you pick. The size sets the price.

  2. 02

    Send a photo

Once the quote feels right, send your best photo and half the price as a deposit.

  3. 03

    I plan the portrait

On my iPad I work out the pose and the composition, adjusting the photo where it helps.

  4. 04

    Sketch, then color

You get progress photos at every stage, so anything you want changed gets changed early.

  5. 05

    Finished and home

I send you the final painting, then we meet up, I deliver it, or I post it to you.

Their face, their name, hand painted on wood.

Personalized pet ornaments, $25 each. This one is Wisco.

I stop taking work on December 20 and reopen January 5, so order early if it’s a gift.

In memory

Much of what I paint is for pets who have passed.

Send whatever photos you have. The clearest one usually becomes the portrait. Blurry photos lose the fur, and shots from above lose the way they sat, so eye-level is best.

If something isn’t right, I fix it. Acrylic paints over cleanly, and you’ll have seen every stage along the way.

Commissions are open. I take three at a time, so each one gets my full attention. I reply within two days.

You’ll send the reference photo once we’ve agreed on a size.
